Dr Magdalena Płonka, born and based in Poland, specialist in the area of fashion education and fashion design, lecturer and entrepreneur. Social activist for environmental protection and animal rights.
Author of Poland’s first book about responsible fashion: Ethics in Fashion – CSR In Garment Industry.
She is the only one in the country to obtain a doctoral student title in CSR in fashion – thesis defended at IADE Creative University in Lisbon under the leadership of Prof. Sandy Black; a fashion designer (master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts) and an expert witness in the field of costume design and design at the District Court in Warsaw. Member of the advisory group for responsible business directives at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development in 2013-2017.
She is a panellist at events such as the Oxford debate of the Nienieodpowiedzialni Foundation at the Polin Museum, VOGUE Business Fashion Environment Summit, Ghent Global Fashion Conference, and Portugal Home Week. Lions Clubs International fellow, winner of awards for designers, including Złota Nitka, Srebrna Pętelka competitions.
Listed amongst the 100 most influential women by Pani Magasin, publicist and visiting professor at international and national universities, amongst them Warsaw’s MSKPU, which she is also a founder of.
She is currently working on her next book, based on research conducted by an international research group dedicated to innovative solutions for responsible fashion in the EU.
Dr Płonka is fluent in English, Spanish and speaks German and basic Hebrew.
